Why Elementary School Counseling?

The American School Counselor Association states that "the elementary school years set the foundation for developing the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent and confident learners. Elementary school counselors have an impact on those years by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program and collaborating with school staff, parents and the community to create a safe and respectful learning environment. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, elementary counselors help students achieve academic success, develop an understanding of career opportunities and develop social/emotional skills in response to the issues they face".

As the school counselor, I work closely with a great team of educators to support our learners. Our school has an assigned School Social Worker, District Mental Health Counselor, School Psychologist, School Board Nurse and a Staffing Resource Specialist that work as part of our Student Study Team to assist our students . If you have questions for any of these team members, or concerns about your child, please reach out and let me know. Working together, we can help all of our Rainbow Rockets find success.
