2026 Track-Boys and Girls
First Practice Thursday, January 8, 2026-Listen for morning announcements
Track is a no cut sport. All Mustangs are welcome to join track, however, minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for eligibility.
While track is a no cut sport, it is REQUIRED that ALL paperwork to be turned in by FRIDAY, JANUARY 16th in order to participate for the season. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the team.
PRACTICES
Practices begin after winter break on Thursday, January 8th. Practices are Tuesday and Thursday from dismissal until 5:15 PM. Please be at the school by 5:15 for pick up.
TRACK EVENTS
We compete in the following track events:
1 mile, Shot Put, Long Jump, 50M, 100M, 200M, 400M, 800M, 4x100M Relay, 4x400M Relay.
EACH grade can have 3 GIRLS and 3 BOYS per event.
MEET UNIFORMS
Each participant, once paid, will receive a Markham Woods track t-shirt for competition. Student will keep t-shirt. Participants must wear running shorts/sweats and tennis shoes/sneakers with laces. NO jeans or Crocs. If you do not have your MKMS track t-shirt, you will not run.
MEETS
All track meets are off campus- please refer to the schedule linked above for locations. We will take the bus to the meet as a team. The bus arrives at MKMS around 4:00 PM and will arrive at the meet location by 4:30. **Players do not have to take the bus back; they may go home with a parent/guardian. If your student does need the bus back to MKMS, please let the coaches know prior to the meet.
ATTENDANCE
All students are expected to be at all practices. Failure to show to practice may result in loss of participation at the meets. If your student is unable to attend a practice, coaches require notification prior to practice. If your student does not have a ride home from practice, please have them go home from school their normal way. If you are absent from school on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday; you are not eligible to participate in practice or the meet depending on the day in which you are absent.
**Before you leave with your student, the student needs to tell the coach they are leaving AND the parent/guardian needs to acknowledge they are taking them. If any student is left unchecked, the coaches have to search the area looking for them and notify authorities we have a missing student. This is a huge safety concern. Please be sure to check your student out with the coaches.
To sign up for track:
Submit payment on My School Bucks-Payment link active when season begins.
Submit an FHSAA sports PHYSICAL to our front office before 1st meet to the front office. An FHSAA sports physical is the ONLY physical we can accept. Sports physical stays on file for 365 days from date of physical.
Submit Medical Information and Waiver to front office
