Permission slip must be filled out to participate in the tryout.
Volleyball Skills
Coaches are looking for the following skills:
Serving- The ability to serve the ball from the service line over the net.
Passing- The ability to receive a serve or a pass and put the ball over the net.
Effort- Going after the ball and not letting it hit the ground.
Following directions- Students that listen to instructions, follow instructions, and give their best effort to do what coaches are trying to teach.
Girls Tryouts- August 17th-18th from dismissal to 5:45 PM.
Girls will report to the gym immediately after school. Girls locker room will be open to change after school.
Girls will be given a number sticker. At the end of the first day, students being asked back for the second day will have their # posted on the whiteboard.
Boys Tryouts Thursday, August 20th from dismissal to 5:45 PM.

Girls Practice
Tuesday/Thursday mornings beginning at 6:45am
Athletic shoes and athletic clothing are required for practice.
Boys practice
Tuesday and Thursday from dismissal until 5:45pm
Athletic shoes and athletic clothing are required for practice.

Knee pads (if desired)
Markham will provide a jersey which needs to be returned at the end of the season** and a warmup shirt which the player gets to keep.
** Jersey's not returned will be turned over to bookkeeping as a student debt
GAMES
All athletes will report to the gym after dismissal. Girls and boys will sit on opposite sides of the gym.
All athletes will be responsible for setting up the gym before the match. Failure to do so may result in the loss of playtime or a spot on the team.

Away teams will take the team bus to the visiting school. That bus arrives at Markham around 4:00 PM. Players do not have to take the bus back. They may go home with a parent/guardian.
GAME TIMES⌚
Wednesday Games- JV starts at 4:45, Varsity starts 15 minutes after JV ends.
Monday Games JV starts at 5:45, Varsity starts 15 minutes after JV ends.

Once your player is picked and accepts a spot on the team, the following list must be completed and turned in to Shea Staber (Boys) or K'Nisia Simms (Girls) at the front office BEFORE the first scheduled game.
