Mrs. Bakken

Our technology classes provide the education and tools needed for student success in a diverse and changing world.  Students use technology to enhance learning, increase productivity, interact with peers, and promote creativity. 

Hi, my name is Mrs. Bakken. I am a Media Specialist and Technology Teacher. I taught at Challenger Elementary School for the past 20 years. Before I was there, I did my student teaching in England. While I was there, I toured around Europe. I love traveling! I have also been to numerous states here in the U.S., Australia, and Japan. This is my fifth year as the Technology Teacher at Franklin Middle School.  I am super excited to see many of my former students! 

At Challenger Elementary School, I taught Media Literacy, Theater, and Technology skills. I worked with 900 students per week so I stay quite busy. It was amazing to see students grow up right before my eyes. 

At Franklin Middle School, I teach Digital Creations, Poster Creations, Interior Design, Procreate Plus, Animation and more.  We will be creating, collaborating, critically think and use digital citizenship during our time together.  
 
Once I was done Student Teaching in England, I started at Challenger Elementary School, and I attained my Masters in Information Media at St. Cloud State University, and I also have my K-12 Principal’s License as I took Education Leadership classes from Minnesota State University Moorhead, which is also where I worked on my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education.

Besides teaching and traveling, I love spending time with my husband and daughters. We have lots of fun together, and we take many pictures so that I can put them in our scrapbooks. Being a Media Specialist, I also love to read. Some of my favorite authors are J.K. Rowling, Carolyn Keene, Rick Riordan and James Patterson. Technology is wonderful, and it is also good to have balance with other activities that are not on screens.
