Reminder: While it’s important to share reading experiences with your student at any age, it is equally important that students complete their AR quizzes independently so we can effectively monitor their growth and identify areas of need that we can address.

To log in to Home Connect use the following:

Username: Your child’s Six Digit student number: 5300123456 just the bold and underlined part of the number is used.

Password: Your child’s birthday month and date in numbers: If their birthday is January 15,

then their password would be 0115.

PCPS Accelerated Reader Guidelines:

The following are the expectations when students quiz at school and we recommend they follow the same for at home quizzing during this time:

· Students should quiz on books within their level/ZPD. Home Connect is a helpful way to know your child’s level/ZPD.

· Students should quiz within 24-48 hours after finishing their book. Grades K – 2 may want to read their book more than one time before taking the quiz.

· Students are not permitted to look at the book while taking the quiz.

· Students cannot retake a quiz if they select, “read independently”.

· Quizzes should be taken by the student without the help or assistance of a family member.

· The school district goal for quiz grades is 85%
