Quickbooks Workshop FAQs:

I represent a not-for-profit organization? Can I attend this workshop?

The grant providing the funds for this workshop is targeted toward for-profit businesses. Not-for-profit organizations do not qualify. Sorry.

I already use Quickbooks. Do I need to attend the first day?

Yes. The workshop curriculum teaches both bookkeeping essentials and the Quickbooks software. Even if you feel rather confident in your Quickbooks skills, it will benefit you to learn, or refresh, the foundational principles of bookkeeping that are covered on the first day.

I’ve never used Quickbooks and I feel like 2 days might be overwhelming. Can I just come to the first day?

The 2-day curriculum is written to provide the most comprehensive experience possible. You’ll miss out on key aspects of the capabilities of the Quickbooks software if you only attend one day. Also, our seating is limited. If you only choose to attend half of the workshop you are potentially taking a spot from someone who could benefit from attending both days.

Do I need to have purchased the Quickbooks software prior to attending the workshop?

No. We will be using a sample company for all of the hands-on practice in the Quickbooks software. Bring a laptop or tablet with keyboard so you can individually use the sample company during the workshop.

I have specific questions about MY Quickbooks file. Will I get those questions answered?

Maybe. While Kari encourages attendees to ask questions, some questions are business-specific or proper answer to the question entails a significant amount of background information. There will be time set aside for questions, but it may not be possible to get every individual question answered.

I use Quickbooks Desktop. Will this workshop help me?

It depends. This workshop solely focuses on the Online version of the Quickbooks software. Obviously, the sections of the curriculum that cover bookkeeping essentials and financial statements are relevant to everyone keeping books, no matter the software. However, if you’re intending to keep Quickbooks Desktop for the foreseeable future, this workshop probably isn’t the best fit for you. If you’re considering a switch to Quickbooks Online within the next year or so, then this workshop will teach you how the Online software works and build your confidence in migrating to it.

Programing for this opportunity is provided from monies awarded to the State of Indiana from the U.S. Department of the Treasury (Treasury) under The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which reauthorized the SSBCI and the TA Grant Program. This SSBCI TA program provides funding to assist small, SEDI-owned businesses and entrepreneurs and VSBs in accessing capital needed to invest in job-creating opportunities as the country emerges from the pandemic. The SSBCI TA Program shall prioritize services that meet the IEDC’s goals of increasing awareness and readiness to apply for capital, the successful acquisition of capital and support throughout the length of the loan, increased financial and business management skills, and geographic coverage across the state.

Indiana's State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Technical Assistance (TA) program is on a mission to empower Hoosier entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses. As the Indiana Economic Development (IEDC) deploys $99 million throughout the state, we want to ensure businesses are prepared to apply for capital programs and manage the capital they receive. Our goal is to provide access to capital and create ecosystems of opportunity, while promoting economic equity across the state.
