What is "North American Industrial Classification (NAICS)"?

NAICS is a numerical system to identify what type/category your business falls under. Consider it to be similar to the Dewey Decimal System for library books. If you don't know your business's NAICS code, don't worry. It's easy to find. 

• Click the drop down and either scroll to find the code that is closest to what your business does OR

• Type keywords that describe your business/industry to find the closest match

How detailed do I need to be with my Business Description?

Write a brief sentence or two that explains the main things your business does to generate revenue.

I don't have any employees. How should I answer the "Number of Full Time Equivalent Employees" question?

Choose 1-9 if you are self-employed, with no other employees.

I'm wanting to attend a Quickbooks workshop. Why is it asking me about "Anticipated Capital Use"?

The program (SSBCI) that's providing this workshop at no cost is a part of a larger program that offers a lending program for small businesses that might find it a challenge to get traditional bank lending for business growth. TO ENSURE ELIGIBILITY TO ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP AT NO COST: you should say "I'm interested in learning more about lending programs but still determining my lending needs" or if you would like lending, briefly describe what you would purchase with loan proceeds.

What is "Desired Assistance AREA"?

Acceptable answers include: 

• SSBCI loan

• Acquiring capital

• Managing capital (loan, debt, etc.)

What do I choose for Desired Assistance TYPE?

Choose "All day workshop"

How do I complete the SEDI-owned question?

If ANY of the conditions described in section 1 apply to you/your business, check the box next to the condition. FYI-if you are woman-owned, check the "gender" box. If your business is located in a rural county, check the "rural" box.

For sections 2-4, if you know that you live and/or your business is located in a CDFI Investment area, go ahead a check the appropriate boxes. If you aren't familiar with CDFI Investment areas, choose "no," for each question. If you're curious about CDFI Investment areas, you can click here and enter your address.
