Islamic Heritage Month - Celebrating Muslim Women in Steam
Celebrating Muslim Women in Steam.
As Salamu alaikum, Dear Parents,
I hope this message finds you well. I am excited to inform you about an upcoming project that coincides with Islamic History Month Canada's 2023 theme: "Celebrating Muslim Women in the Arts & Sciences."
As part of our commitment to celebrating the rich heritage and contributions of the Islamic civilization, we want to encourage our students to explore and recognize the exceptional achievements of Muslim women. Over the next few weeks, and extending beyond October, students will have the opportunity to research, create, and present projects related to the lives of scholars, adventurers, and pioneers from the Muslim civilization. These projects will be conducted within various subjects such as Language Arts, Social Studies, Islamic Studies, Art, and History.
To make this experience even more enriching, we invite you to get involved and collaborate with your child on a unique project that focuses on Muslim women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Your child can choose to create a poem, sketch, or research paper highlighting the life and achievements of a Muslim woman in the STEM field.
Here's how you can help:
Choose a Muslim Woman in STEM: Together with your child, select a notable Muslim woman who has made significant contributions to the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
Research: Encourage your child to research the chosen woman's life, accomplishments, and the impact she has had on the STEM field. You can explore books, articles, and online resources.
Create: Collaborate with your child to create a poem, a sketch, or a research paper that showcases the inspiring journey and achievements of the chosen woman.
Support and Guidance: Provide guidance and support as your child works on their project. Help them refine their ideas, structure their work, and ensure accuracy in their research.
This project is an excellent opportunity for students to not only learn about these remarkable women but also to develop their presentation skills and public speaking abilities. I also encourage creativity and artistic expression through poetry and sketching.
I believe that your participation in this project will not only enhance your child's learning experience but also foster a deeper appreciation for the contributions of Muslim women in STEM fields.
The students will have the chance to present their projects in class, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment. InshaAllah, these projects will continue to be a part of our curriculum beyond October as we believe in the importance of promoting and celebrating Islamic heritage throughout the year.
If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you for your support and participation in this important endeavor.
Warm regards,
JazakAllahu Khairan,
Sr.Mona
