Readers makes better writers ! Writers make better readers!
Second Graders Writers... during Writers Workshop will be writing across the different genres, students will learn to understand—and apply to their own writing—techniques they discover in the work of published authors. We will be completing various author studies that will help them craft powerful true stories. They will also, engage in a poetry unit that focuses on exploring and using language in intentional ways. The students will read closely and gather evidence from texts to craft persuasive arguments. Inspirational nonfiction texts will be studied to help students design and write about scientific information. And students will learn how to create engaging narratives by stretching out small moments and writing in detail.
Second Grade Readers... during Readers Workshop students will take part in instructional practices that will help them grow as readers, speakers, and independent thinkers. Through Readers Workshop, we will be creating a literary community that will be excited about reading and engaging in the process of becoming fluent readers and thinkers.
