Some easy ways to promote literacy at home:

• Have books and other reading materials available
• Read to your child everyday (at bedtime is an excellent time)
• Listen to your child read everyday
• Discuss what is read
• Have your child see you reading (be a positive role model)
• Visit the local library
• Visit a book store
• Read outside on a nice day
• Make a tent with a blanket and use a flashlight to read
