BOCES will pay tuition and books for most courses offered by Casper College at the 1000 level or above. High school students who are Natrona County residents and who meet all course prerequisites, and are enrolled in at least one academic course may enroll in the BOCES program.
Junior and Senior students: BOCES will pay for tuition and books for three courses in each the Fall and Spring semesters in addition to one Summer course.
Freshman and sophomore students: BOCES will pay the tuition and books for one course in each the Fall and Spring semesters in addition to the one Summer course.
A dual enrollment BOCES course is a Casper College course taken on the college campus, via the Internet, or at the high school. Freshmen and sophomore students may take dual enrollment courses after contacting their high school counselor and the BOCES manager. Students receive high school credits and college credits for successfully completing these courses. The credits may be used in a core area or as an elective on your high school transcript. Students will receive a Casper College transcript for the same courses.
It is recommended that you meet with your high school counselor to discuss your class schedule and plans, then complete the BOCES enrollment form, gather all the necessary signatures (parent, counselor) and take it to Enrollment Services at Casper College.
A concurrent enrollment BOCES courses are scheduled and taught in the high school during the day. These courses are certified to be equivalent to the college level course, and therefore, students can choose to sign up for Casper College credit while taking these courses at their home high school. During the first week of class, your teacher will distribute ACE registration forms. Complete the form, obtain the necessary signatures and return it by the deadline.
Students can take unlimited concurrent courses at the high schools for college credit, and BOCES will pay the tuition for those courses.
If students pay for the course, they can choose whether or not to have the course placed on their high school transcript.
Students must fill out the BOCES ACE registration form in order for the class to be paid for by the BOCES program. When students submit the form, they will be given back the pink copy, they should take to the bookstore to pay for their books. The staff at the bookstore are happy to help and will bill BOCES for the books.
In order to enroll in certain Math, English, or Science courses, students will need to meet prerequisite scores on the ACT. If the student has not taken the ACT or failed to meet the prerequisite score, contact Casper College Student Services. Student services offers placement exams that can qualify you for a specific course.
BOCES will pay tuition and books for one course at Casper College during the summer immediately after graduation. BOCES students are not fully admitted college students, and if they wish to attend Casper College after high school graduation, they MUST apply for admission during their senior year.
800 & 900 Level Courses: BOCES will pay tuition and books for a remedial course at Casper College during the summer immediately after graduation or with permission of the BOCES manager for the last semester of high school.
MATH 0925 Math Study Skills: BOCES will pay the tuition for any high school student to take the course Math 0925. This course is a math study skills, ACT prep class that is offered over eight weeks two times each semester for one college credit. The credit will not go on the high school transcript.
