I wasn't very excited of living overboard for three weeks when my mum proposed me to go to the British Virgin Islands for a sailboat trip. I didn't know how great was that place and that I was about to live one of the best experiences of my life. It happened last summer and during that trip without realizing it I wrote a part of my future. It was there that I decided to come to Florida for my last year of high school. I've started this experience two months ago and I couldn't have done best choice.
But returning at the BVI's trip.. There I learnt to survive without my phone and so to get bored. It could sound weird but how many times everyday do we all take our phones and just unlock them because we are bored? there I didn't have the possibility to do it because there was no Internet, so I just looked at the moon on the bow of the boat or read a book. I had time to know all the people surrounded me so deeply that after three weeks I considered them my family, believe it or not.
It opened my mind from many points of view. I learnt to share my personal stuff, to live in tight spaces having equally fun and to appreciate nature as I had never had the chance before.
I will be eternally grateful to my mother for organizing this trip because it happened in a difficult period of my life and there I managed to relax, free my mind and find an answer to the questions I had.
I recommend it to all the teenagers who want to live a different experience. Just one time in life it can be lived in the way I did and it's when you are still free to turn the phone off and leave, when you are 15, 16, not more.. I'm happy to have had this possibility.
