Just like the library, the web contains information of different types that are stored and retrieved in different ways.
The invisible web includes many types of online resources that are not normally found using regular search engines such as Google, Bing or Yahoo. These resources are not found because because these tools are things like directories, searchable sites, free or paid web databases, and other many specialized search engines.
Maybe your first inclination when you can't easily find what you are looking for is to give up. But if you are searching for information you need for a research project or maybe you have a critical thinking question you need to answer and then justify our answer, your research has to go deeper. This is the purpose of the invisible web. It has deeper, richer content. So the next time you want to throw up your hands because the answer doesn't instantly present itself, persist until you find the answer or seek a little help from your librarian. Remember, "Google can give you millions of answers, but your librarian can help you find the right answer!" (Neil Gaiman)
