Our mission is to create a supportive community for girls with an interest in STEM, in order to tear down existing barriers preventing women from embracing their passions.
In our school, we’ve noticed that the ratio between girls and boys in our higher-level STEM is significantly unbalanced. Through this we realized how often we have felt the unspoken intimidation in classes like AP Calc, AP Physics, and AP Computer Science. Because of this stigma, many of our female peers have felt the additional pressure to succeed in male-dominated classes. In Limitless we want to encourage more girls to join higher-level STEM classes and pursue careers in fields such as engineering and computer science.
Women make up only 28% of the STEM workforce and only 16% of engineering and architecture occupations are females. A study done by MIT shows that this STEM gap is caused by stereotypes, unconscious biases, and a lack of role models.
