Unfortunately, there is currently no cure to the rabies virus once symptoms have begun in its victim (Hoagstrom). This is why immediate medical attention following a bite is so important-- receiving human rabies immune globulin (HRIG) and doses of the rabies vaccine before symptoms begin are the only way to avoid death.Â
... Except in a few rare exceptions, which are talked about in the video I created called "Rabies Virus and the Milwaukee Protocol."
