How long have you worked in education?

I have worked in the education field for 20 years. I consider coming to Liberty Christian as the pinnacle of my career. I love the opportunity to share the Word, the love of Jesus, and being able to look at literature a different way by considering a Christian worldview.

Where did you get your degree?

I received my Bachelors Degree in teaching from The University of Texas at Arlington. I received my Masters Degree in Library Science from Sam Houston State University.

What is your favorite memory related to school?

I always loved school as a child. My favorite memory was when I was in the Fifth Grade. It was 1976 and it was our country's Bicentennial birthday. We did several special projects to celebrate the Bicentennial. One of our class's projects was entered in a competition and received the top award. I still have two little handmade, paper, patriotic Christmas tree ornaments that I hang on my tree each year that remind me of that fun time. My teacher made such an impression on me because of her willingness to make learning so meaningful and fun!

What motivates you to do what you do as a librarian each and every day?

My love for children and reading is what motivated me to become a librarian. I want to be someone that makes a difference in the life of the students that I share each year with. I love to watch that spark in each child's eyes as they learn to read. Sharing the joy of reading with children is my passion! I am blessed each day by the children I teach!

What are your favorite books?

My favorite children's book is The Little House by Virginia Burton, which was written in 1942 and received a Caldecott for its illustrations. My favorite children's chapter book is The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. My favorite adult book is O Rugged Land of Gold, written by Martha Martin.
