Outreach
FTC Team #19796
What is Outreach?
Outreach is the way we inform others about the work we do as a team in the FIRST program. It is a way to share the events we attend, our accomplishments, what we're working on, and information about FTC and FIRST in general. Our outreach events are listed below. Use the Outreach drop down menu on the tabs page above to view more pictures for each event.
Mentoring FLL Avocoders Team
In Fall of 2022, we met with the Avocoders FLL team to give them advice on their upcoming competition in late November and talk through their ideas. We are mentoring and meeting with them to help them work on their team bonding.
Our team went to this Festival in late August 2022. Kids were given the opportunity to listen about our journey in FIRST, drive our robot, play a video game that explained the field layout, and build a robot made of recyclables. We handed out fliers that described the levels of FIRST and what we do, as well as contact info to get those are interested started.
Hartland Kids Day
This event was in early August 2022. Kids built robots from recyclables again and played the field video game. We handed out fliers again but did not have as much interest as the Ocon Fest. This day was centered largely on walking around to other booths and asking about their interest in working together to create more FLL or FTC teams & asking for sponsorship for our upcoming year.
Generac Event
A few members from our team and The Knack went to Generac in early September 2022. We presented a slideshow describing our season last year and what FTC is. We also toured the building and talked to the engineers there. The slideshow is linked below.
Milwaukee Tool Demo and Tour
In late July 2022 Outside the Bots went to Milwaukee Tool Center with one other FTC team and four FRC teams. We toured the center, talked to the engineers their, displayed and explained our robot, listed our future goals, and learned of the different Engineering- related jobs offered at Milwaukee Tool.
Visitor from SpaceX
In September of 2022 Tanner Hallett from SpaceX met with our team and the Knack
Mentoring FLL Spikes Team
Two of our team members joined members of the Knack to help mentor and coach the FLL team Spikes at Lake Country School. We wish them the best of luck at their competition.
Halloween fun
Fall of 2021. We built a scarecrow built with motion sensors. When students at Lake Country walked by, the scarecrow waved hello. The goal was to promote our team and FTC through a fall themed outreach. The project expanded the knowledge of using servos, range sensors, Android Studios, and the FTC interface.
Outreach at Poplar Creek Elementary
Grades 5k- 5th assembling outreach boxes and exploring our website
Outreach at Lake Country School
Students in 7th grade at Lake Country school were given the opportunity to join our team as on- lookers to explore what it's like being on an FTC team.
Five 7th grade students at LCS spent a month and half on our team; coming to our practices, learning about programming, helping with outreach plans, and getting hands on building experience as we began to design and create our robot. Many of these students were on an FLL team previously and were interested in seeing what a more involved team is like. We hope that next year they will come back to stay on the Outside the Bots team for the full season.
