• Think about what you want to study. Indicating your interests in applications/ApplyTexas will make you eligible for certain scholarships. If you don't know, it's okay. A lot of people enter college not knowing their major, but keep exploring and thinking.

• Figure out the type of college that fits you. Small or big? Rigorous? Sport-focused? Research based? Private or Public? Bachelors or Associates Degree? 

• Choose a safety, target and reach school.
  Reach: Your academic credential fall below the school's range for the average freshman, but you want to try to get in.
  Match: Your academic credentials fall well within the school's range for the
  average freshman.
  Safety: Your academic credentials fall above the school's range for the average freshman, you know you will definitely get in.

COLLEGE APPLICATIONS

• Complete the Go Apply Texas Application for TX universities. Complete the Common Application for out-of-state universities.

• Write your essays.

• Ask for Letters of Recommendations.

• Send your transcripts and test scores.

YOU'RE NOT DONE YET!

• Financial Aid - ALL SENIORS must fill out a financial aid application (FAFSA/TASFA). Don't forget to provide a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) to your counselor! THIS IS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION.

• Scholarships - Check the "Scholarship Wall" on a weekly basis for new/updated scholarship applications. Located in the Counseling center. Please submit completed applications to Ms. Viera. Mark your calendar with deadlines. It is your responsibility to submit all documentation before the deadline!

• Meningitis Vaccine - Students entering college must provide documentation (shot record) that they have received the Bacterial Meningitis vaccine.
  Check with the college of your choice for instructions on how to submit the
  documentation. Most institutions require additional documentation along with the immunization record.
  ALAMO COLLEGES - Students must upload the Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Compliance Form in addition to your shot record. $10 fee applied.

• Submit all your acceptance letters and financial aid award letters - Please submit these items to Ms. Viera in the Counseling Center. THIS IS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION.
