Bluebonnet Learning Overview

Harlandale ISD is proud to implement Bluebonnet Learning K–5 Reading Language Arts, a high-quality program developed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) specifically for Texas students. Rooted in research-based practices, Bluebonnet provides explicit, systematic instruction in foundational literacy skills, builds knowledge through complex grade-level texts, and fosters text-based responses. With engaging, diverse content and rich resources, Bluebonnet equips our teachers and inspires our students—making every learning experience meaningful and impactful.

Reading Language Arts Research Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS)

RLA RBIS are a set of research-based practices that address common misconceptions, promote shifts in instructional approach, and guide effective classroom implementation and material design. These instructional strategies are embedded in daily lessons with the Bluebonnet Learning curriculum.

Harlandale ISD has developed an Instructional Framework that defines a shared vision for high-quality, equitable literacy instruction and outlines a clear plan to achieve it.
