David Miller with MyHikes, LLC, a company that recently registered a trademark for MYHIKES, tried to take myhikes.com from us. The problem? We’ve owned this domain since 2005—20 years before they even registered their trademark. They filed a complaint claiming we were infringing on their trademark and demanding the domain be transferred to them.
However, the panel’s decision was clear: we registered myhikes.com well before they even had a trademark, and there was no evidence that we were acting in bad faith. In fact, the panel found that their case was based on an improper claim—an attempt to seize the domain without any legitimate grounds.
The result? We kept myhikes.com, and MyHikes, LLC’s complaint was dismissed. The panel even determined that they had engaged in reverse domain name hijacking, which means they tried to unjustly take the domain.
At the end of the day, the domain remains ours, and their attempt to seize it was rejected.
