Junior Service

SERVICE HOURS

Expectations

Students are expected to meet a minimum of service hours at their approved and contracted service site every quarter. Satisfying the minimum requirement will merit a "Satisfactory" grade on your son's report card and progress reports. Failure to meet the minimum will merit an "Unsatisfactory" grade and put the student at risk of not completing the mandatory service requirement.

Students who do not perform their approved service will not be allowed to graduate.

Service Contract

OVERVIEW

After a student has chosen a service site, a contract must be drafted between the student volunteer and the service site. The contract document can only be obtained from the Coordinator of Service Learning or the student's Theology Teacher.

In this simple agreement, the student volunteer and the site supervisor, will draft the contract document based on their respective schedules and goals. The student, the site supervisor, and the student’s parents will then endorse the contract before submitting it back to the Director of Service Learning. Students can have multiple contracts.

Service hours cannot be credited before the date inscribed on a submitted contract.

NEPOTISM POLICY

If a student is volunteering in an organization where a parent, sibling, relative, or close family-friend works or volunteers, the Coordinator of Service Learning must be notified before any service is rendered. In addition, to avoid any conflict of interest, the relative is ineligible for the status of site supervisor.

Logging Hours

x2VOL

Service Hours are to be logged using the x2vol service tracking platform. Students can log in here:

Student Accounts

First time users need to claim their account by following the video to the right of this text box (or click here). When claiming the account, students must click the "Join" button, then use their school ID number and school email address (@myhchs.org). After they claim their account, students will fill out a brief survey to assist with placement if needed. Otherwise, approved sites can be found in the "Approved Service" area in the section above.

Logging In Hours

Also for your convenience, the video below (or click here) demonstrates how to log in hours using the system. In addition to the site, there is also an easy to use mobile app that can be used to submit and track service hours.
