These straps connect to a cellist's chair and cup the endpin of the cello. These promote good posture and help protect the floor from the endpin. A common, recommended brand is the Xeros endpin anchor.
These "donut" rock stops can be used by both cellists and bassists but are best used by bass players. They do not keep cellos as secure as the rock stop strap.
The shoulder rest holds the violin or viola in the correct position for playing. Shoulder rests come in many sizes to match the many sizes of violins and violas. A durable and comfortable brand recommended is Everest.
Students using a half size violin or 12" viola should get a 1/2-3/4 adjustable rest.
Students using a 3/4 violin or 13" viola should get a 3/4-4/4 adjustable rest.
Rosin is used to coat the hairs on the bow with a sticky residue that grips the strings on the instrument and produces sound. Light rosin is generally used by violinists and violists, while dark rosin is stickier and used by cellists; either option is fine in elementary orchestra!
This rosin is specific for the needs of the double bass and is stickier than violin rosin.
Instruments get dusty and need to be wiped off. Anything from a microfiber cloth to an old (clean!) sock can be used to clean the instrument.
