GFPS Encore

Encore operates from 3:00 pm-5:30 pm (Monday -Friday), on days that school is in session (there are a few days occasionally that we are closed due to staffing). Registration is required, including re-registration if enrolled last year.

This is an academic-based program
We are mandated to provide two hours a day of academi regardless of grade level
Not all spots are guaranteed
Some locations may have a waiting list due to space and staffing
Early Release Program provides participants with organized and active after-school activities, arts and crafts, and various STEM activities.

2026-2027 Early Release Program Information

Registration Dates: July 27, 2026, at 8:00 AM through August 3, 2026, at 8:00 AM.

The Early Release Program is available on Wednesdays when school is dismissed at 1:30 PM. The program runs until 3:00 PM, and all children must be picked up no later than 3:00 PM.

You will receive an email with your school's specific pick-up procedures after registration.

Early release dates are listed on the Grand Forks Public Schools District Calendar.

Please note: If you have already registered your child for Encore, you do not need to complete this registration. This form is only for families who need care from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM on early release Wednesdays.

The Early Release program operates from 1:30–3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays when school is released at 1:30 p.m. This free program is available at Ben Franklin, Century, Discovery, J. Nelson Kelly, Lake Agassiz, Lewis and Clark, Phoenix, Viking, Wilder, and Winship Elementary Schools.

Registration is required each year, including for students who participated previously. Registration may be completed online. Students enrolled in Encore are automatically enrolled in the Early Release Day program and do not need to register separately.

During Early Release, participants will enjoy a variety of organized active after-school activities, including arts and crafts, STEM projects, and other engaging recreational opportunities.

At 3:00 p.m., all students enrolled in Encore will report to their Encore program. Students who are not registered for Encore must be picked up no later than 3:00 p.m.
