Reading Programs & Partnerships

Library Media Services has a goal for students to read 15 million minutes this school year! Schools will also set their own community goal in Beanstack to help the district reach 15 million minutes. (School goals = # of students x 225)

What reading counts toward the goal?

Virtual Family Book Club

The Virtual Family Book Club is a partnership with Guilford Family (formerly Parent) Academy. Monthly meetings are 30 min and include a read-aloud of an NCCBA picture book and a suggested at-home activity.

SLMCs are invited to be a guest reader for a monthly meeting. No pre-planning is needed. All meetings begin at 6:00. Guests readers would need to be online at 5:45 for pre-meeting technology checks.

Guilford Open Access to Libraries for Students (GOALS)

The Greensboro Public Library and the High Point Public Library have partnered with Guilford County Schools (GCS) in an effort to provide students with the resources and services necessary to help support their achievement year-round.
