PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a schoolwide approach designed to close the opportunity gap for diverse and underrepresented learners by building relational capacity, integrating collaborative inquiry and leading with high expectations. AVID at the core begins with an elective class that serves as a springboard to change at the systems, culture, leadership, and instructional levels.
AVID makes an impact on 7th and 8th grade students enrolled at Nicolas Junior High School and Ladera Vista School of the Arts.
AVID’s strategies and collective approach can build strong habits of mind, which will translate directly into academic progress. High school graduation rates and college acceptances in preparation for careers are the long-term markers of success.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Fullerton School District empowers students to build a foundation of mathematical understanding through Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI). Students build upon what they already know and advance their intuitive problem-solving processes to help them develop their core understanding of rigorous math concepts. We foster students’ math achievement, students’ problem-solving experiences and teachers’ math knowledge through CGI. The desired outcome is that each child's mathematical understanding is uncovered and expanded through listening to students, asking smart questions, and engaging with their thinking.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Culturally Responsive Teaching is about building all students' capacity to do rigorous work by leveraging the cultural knowledge and prior experiences our diverse children brings to the classroom.
All stakeholders in the FSD community are impacted. Teachers are growing their pedagogical practice to interpret students' cultural knowledge and then build upon that in order to facilitate robust, rigorous, expansive learning for all. Students are centered in the work and all families' backgrounds are affirmed and are essential components in the learning process.
The intended outcomes are high academic achievement, high levels of social-emotional awareness and skills, all while cultivating independent learners who respect multicultural perspectives and experiences.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
In the Fullerton School District we believe all students, including the gifted, develop to their full potential only when their special strengths are identified and supported throughout their lives. We are therefore committed to providing differentiated, in-depth, complex, and accelerated opportunities for our GATE students.
FSD’s GATE program impacts our students through the identification of academic strengths and artistic talents and providing differentiated services for these students. We impact parents by providing parent resources and a community through the GATE Parents Organization.
The intended outcome of the GATE Program is to provide appropriate services and supports to students who are in need of challenging academic or artistic curriculum, social and emotional supports, and environments that encourage reaching their potential.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Fullerton School District is dedicated to continually seeking high performance. We have partnered with The Marzano Research Group to training school teams on using their High Reliability Schools™ framework. Schools have used this framework to improve student achievement by identifying best practices to implement. The framework consists of five levels of performance through which schools progress to recognize the interrelatedness of their systems of operation. Three of our schools have completed Level 3. Additionally, 16 of our 20 schools have started Level 1 or completed it.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Our district has created a district-wide system to support ALL students with their Academic, Behavioral, and Social-Emotional Needs. This framework is called the Multi-tiered System of Supports, or MTSS. This framework provides a cohesive and consistent model to meet the needs of ALL our students at every school site. MTSS relies on a team approach that requires staff collaboration and is based on data-driven decision-making to help students with academic, behavioral, or social-emotional needs, in and out of the classroom.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
FSD’s Teacher Induction Program is the pathway for new teachers to earn a Professional Clear Teaching Credential. This two year, job-embedded program provides candidates the opportunity to deeply consider the application of strategies and skills learned in their teacher preparation program and self-reflect on their current practice using the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. Candidates are paired with knowledgeable mentors for one-on-one support who guide them through four inquiry-based units focused on their self-selected professional growth goals.
FSD Induction impacts new teachers by providing them with one-on-one mentor support, professional learning and growth, and a focus on the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. Induction then impacts the students who are taught by these teachers, by providing well trained and supported educators.
The intended outcome of FSD’s Induction Program is to provide teachers with the support of a mentor and the Induction Leadership Team while working through a series of Inquiry-based units to help them to grow and develop as educators. Ultimately our goal is to develop lifelong educators who positively impact students daily.
