Eye Level Aman Suria FAQ
What does Eye Level mean?
‘Eye Level’ captures the spirit of the company’s approach: Eye Level philosophy is based on our principle that students learn most effectively when they have the tools to do so at their own level and an Instructor is most effective when he/she understands the learning needs of the individual student.
Who is Eye Level for?
Eye Level, a renowned global supplementary education provider with 45 years of expertise, crafts programs fostering independent problem-solving and critical thinking in children. Our acclaimed curriculum facilitates personalized instruction through self-directed learning and one-on-one coaching, catering to students primarily aged 4-16 years old.
Are Eye Level programs proven?
Eye Level programs are aligned with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). Since the birth of the Eye Level programs and their expansion across the globe, enrolments and customer satisfaction figures have continued to increase. This success is largely due to Eye Level’s commitment to operating from the core values of honesty, passion, and respect. Eye Level strives for the betterment of society through creative, sound products and services that enrich the lives of families around the world, while inspiring pride in our own employees.
What sets Eye Level apart from other providers?
We set ourselves apart from traditional private tuition and schools by offering a genuinely personalized educational experience, focusing on individual abilities rather than age or short-term academic goals. Our approach avoids the ‘quick-fix’ tutoring model and, instead, provides long-term enrichment programs. These programs empower children to excel beyond their natural school curriculum, fostering independent learning, superior problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities highly sought after by universities and employers.
What distinguishes us further is our global academic rigor, coupled with adaptability to local market needs. Collaborating with partners, we ensure our curriculum remains relevant to and aligned with the local school system. We firmly believe in shouldering the responsibility of your child’s education, steering clear of the practice of outsourcing this crucial task back to parents, as seen in other workbook-based delivery models.
How is Eye Level program different from school teaching?
Eye Level is an individualised and personalised learning programme that helps students develop the ability to study independently and confidently. The Eye Level curriculum is carefully structured into small, progressive steps, allowing students to build skills gradually and achieve real understanding.
Each lesson booklet includes clear explanations and worked examples, enabling students to learn with minimal direct instruction. Rather than teaching answers, the Eye Level instructor monitors progress, assesses readiness for new topics, and adjusts lesson pacing when needed. Instructors guide students toward the correct learning methods, helping them take ownership of their learning and achieve long-lasting results.
Additional benefits of the Eye Level curriculum
Improved concentration through personalised coaching
Students learn in a small-group, one-to-one coaching environment, allowing instructors to give focused attention. This structure helps students improve concentration, stay engaged, and progress more efficiently.
Strong concept mastery with individualised support
Each student begins with a Diagnostic Test to identify their current level. Instructors continuously observe classwork and assignments to detect learning gaps, provide targeted guidance, and assign tailored review work. This ensures steady progress and mastery at every level.
Meaningful parental involvement
Parents play an active role by supporting daily home study, reviewing completed booklets, and receiving regular feedback. Ongoing communication with the Centre Director keeps parents informed of progress and areas that may need extra support.
Development of effective study habits
Through consistent practice in a structured yet flexible programme, students build strong study routines, self-discipline, and independent learning habits that support long-term academic success.
Are the programmes aligned with the Malaysian school syllabus?
Yes. The curriculum supports KSSR and KSSM, and also benefits students from international programmes such as IGCSE and IBDP by strengthening fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
Can Eye Level study support students in their preparation for IGCSEs, SPM, or KSSR?
We are dedicated to unlocking the full potential of each student, nurturing truly independent learners. The synergy of honed study skills and comprehensive content knowledge proves to be a potent combination. Daily reports from parents and teachers consistently highlight improvements in both confidence and academic achievement through sustained Eye Level study. Our commitment to unwavering standards transcends geographical boundaries. A student proficient in any of our programs, after attending our learning center for at least 12 months, would find assessments in the Malaysian system more manageable, showcasing the lasting impact of our approach.
How are the Eye Level programs tailored to a child’s age?
At Eye Level, we dismiss the conventional notion of age as a basis for education, deeming it a flawed organizational principle. Instead, we structure our approach entirely around individual ability. This means you’ll find children working at, below, or significantly above their school level, influenced by their initial assessment and the duration of their engagement with Eye Level.
What is self-directed learning?
Self-directed learning is like being the captain of your own ship when it comes to acquiring knowledge and skills. Instead of relying on traditional classroom settings or formal instruction, you take the helm and steer your own learning journey. It’s about setting your goals, finding resources, and determining the pace at which you want to learn.
Imagine you’re on a quest for knowledge, and you get to decide the route, the stops along the way, and how long you spend exploring each destination. It requires a good deal of independence, motivation, and discipline. You’re not waiting for someone to tell you what to learn; you’re choosing what you want to know and figuring out how to learn it.
The cool thing is that self-directed learning can happen anywhere and at any time. Whether you’re diving into a new book, exploring online courses, experimenting with hands-on projects, or seeking guidance from mentors, you’re in control.
The type of child that we are developing possesses the following abilities:
Identify problems
Understand the solutions
Weigh the cost and benefit of each solution
Evaluate the outcome.
However, children do not become self-directed learners overnight. This skill has to be nurtured through regular and consistent practice in a conducive self-directed learning environment.
How frequently and for what duration does an Eye Level student attend classes?
At Eye Level, our students have the flexibility to attend once or twice a week, a decision left entirely to the parent or student’s preference. The structure ensures that choosing between the two options does not fundamentally impact progress or attainment. While there’s no time fixation in our approach, as we don’t prescribe set class durations or time completion metrics, we prioritize careful observation and one-on-one coaching for effective mastery determination.
A child remains in class until they’ve perfected the day’s work, with completion time varying based on factors such as the child’s age, level, ability, and duration of their Eye Level engagement. On average, once settled, a child might spend around 45 minutes per subject.
Is there a minimum commitment period for my child when starting with Eye Level?
Given the nature of Eye Level and its effectiveness, attending for a short period may not yield significant value. This is why our upfront comprehensive assessment is crucial. As a general guideline, one year of study makes a meaningful difference, two years lead to notable proficiency, and three years or more result in exceptional performance for their age. The majority of our students stay with us between 2 and 5 years, and transfers to other centers are possible if needed.
What are the qualifications of the Eye Level Math instructors and how are they trained?
All Eye Level Instructors have received at least some education in college and are required to complete Eye Level-specific training (provided by the franchisee or franchisor) as well as to attend ongoing online training conducted by the National Training Center. Because Eye Level encourages independent learning, our instructors, who are experts in the Eye Level method and curriculum, guide students through small, manageable steps to perform self-initiated, directed learning. For this reason, not all Instructors are, nor do they need to be, certified teachers. They are, however, formally trained in the Eye Level method and they study our curriculum carefully in order to guide your child most efficiently through it.
