Columbia School District's 1:1 Technology Initiative program allows all 9th-12th-grade students to take home a Chromebook for coursework. We will issue the same Chromebook for consecutive years to ensure students develop responsible habits and have the tools to succeed each day. The device is the property of CSD and must be returned before the summer break. In addition, we are excited to provide all students with protective cases and updated HP and Dell models.
The district cannot service personal devices, which may be incompatible with our wifi and testing platforms. Therefore, each student must have a school-issued device. In addition, we do not keep Chromebooks in teachers' classrooms. We cannot guarantee that a loaner device will be available for students who forget their Chromebook, need one for assessments, or to access the network.
If families choose to opt out of the insurance policy, they are responsible for the cost of any repair or accidental damage, and fees are posted in PowerSchool. Please review the Technology Handbook for more information. If you choose to purchase insurance, payment is due by Wednesday, August 20th.
We will hand out Chromebooks on the 1st day of school. Students who are not registered cannot take a device home. All students must have a district-issued device to complete coursework by Thursday, August 21st. If payment is not received for the insurance at that time, it will default to opt-out.
Free and reduced students can purchase insurance for $5. Please fill out the lunch form to check eligibility
Please complete this form if you have student(s) who bring personal devices to school. They must have permission from a parent/guardian and agree to the terms listed on the above form each school year. In addition, there are Instructions for Installing Network Certificates on a personal device & Link for Certificates to access the wifi.
