About US

ACCESS provides on demand transportation in Hays and Ellis County. The local funding source for ACCESS is the City of Hays and Ellis County.

Tiger Transport runs every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. On Wednesday and Friday the route is every 15 minutes at FHSU and Walmart. On Saturdays, it is every 20 minutes with a stop added to the Mall before going to Walmart. There is no fare charged for the service. During the summer months at FHSU the route only runs on Friday and only stops at FHSU and Walmart during the same hours. Tiger Transport is available for both FHSU students and the public.

The DSNWK Transportation Department oversees all agency owned vehicles in all areas served by DSNWK. One-third of the vehicles utilized to provide transportation for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are funded by Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) through capital purchase grants.

All public transportation services are on a first come, first served basis. These vehicles are partially funded via grants through KDOT. The grants include funding for the purchase of the vehicle (capital) and operating expenses.

Safety

Your safety is our concern. For that reason, all individuals riding ACCESS are required to occupy a seat and utilize the seat belts. All riders will remain seated when the vehicle is in motion and remain so until the vehicle comes to a complete stop.

Transporting Children

All children under the age of fourteen must be accompanied by an adult. All children 4 years or older must be in a safety or booster seat until they turn 8, weigh more than 80 lbs., or are taller than 4 feet, 9 inches. The child must be secured with an appropriate child seat provided by the parent or guardian. Due to space restrictions on the bus, you cannot leave the car seat on the bus.

Pick-Up Times

Due to the nature of our business, the bus may arrive 15 minutes before or after your scheduled time. We ask that you be prepared for pick-up during this window of time. Upon arrival, the driver will wait for 5 minutes before leaving for their next destination.

No Shows/Cancellations

For an explanation of No Shows/Cancellations, please refer to our Rider Information Handbook which can be obtained from any driver or through a link on this webpage in the Rider Information Handbook section. All cancellations must be called in at least 1 hour in advance or it will be considered a late cancel.

Packages

You are allowed to bring personal packages onto the bus, but they must be kept in your possession at all times.

Wheelchair Lifts/Bus Operation

No individual other than the driver is allowed to operate any controls on the bus. This includes operating the lift, tie-downs, air conditioning, heat, or lights. Most lifts can be used to assist you to enter the bus, however, please notify the dispatcher when making the appointment if you feel this is a necessity. You will need to be able to keep your balance and hold on to the hand rail for your safety.
