Get to know teacher Jessy

Jesaira Lunod Bonggot, known professionally as Teacher Jessy, is a 24-year-old educator hailing from the Philippines. She completed a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a specialization in Science from Camiguin Polytechnic State College on September 22, 2022. Teacher Jessy officially became a certified teacher upon successfully passing the teacher's licensure examination on February 19, 2023.

ESL Teacher experience

She had previous experience as an ESL Teacher at EnglishWing company. Here, she teaches English language and reading to Korean students using online platforms. At the same time, she is seeking a role as a foreign English teacher assistant in Taiwan through TFETP.

Oath-taking ceremony for professional teachers

On May 19, 2023, she received notification from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) that she had successfully passed the licensure examination, joining the ranks of 48,005 passers. Initially unaware of the pending TFETP application, it wasn't until June 7, 2023, that she received an email inviting her for an interview. Subsequently, after passing the interview a week later, she was granted a 2-month period to fulfill the requirements. Despite encountering challenges along the way, she persevered and successfully embarked on her journey to Taiwan on February 29, 2024.

As she embarks on her teaching journey in Taiwan, she also gets to experience firsthand the culture, tradition, and Taiwanese cuisine. Apart from that, she also gains new learnings by teaching collaborations from local English teachers, modifying the teaching materials that they think are beneficial for the students, and continually improving her teaching career by joining professional development workshops and expanding her horizon by being open to suggestions, teaching methodologies being utilized by the other foreign English teachers and assistants, throughout Changhua County.
