This is my self-introduction video from the county's My Culture Connect YouTube channel. This channel serves as a repository of English Learning videos created by the Teacher Education Association for schools in Changhua County.
Hello! I’m Jericho P. Sandoval, a licensed professional teacher from the Philippines with a passion for inspiring young minds through education. I hold a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Biological Science from Batangas State University and recently completed my Master of Arts in Education – Science Teaching. Since passing the licensure exam in 2019, I’ve dedicated myself to the field of education, gaining three years of solid teaching experience in both traditional classrooms and in virtual learning environments.
My teaching journey was sparked by a high school teacher who instilled in me a love for science and a curiosity for learning—values I now strive to pass on to my students. I’ve taught junior and senior high school students, worked as a homeroom teacher and subject coordinator, and even explored international teaching through an ESL company based in South Korea. My teaching philosophy is grounded in patience, empathy, and differentiated learning, ensuring that every student, regardless of background or ability, feels valued and supported.
I strongly believe that learning is most effective when it is engaging, inclusive, and student-centered. Music, particularly singing, is one of the tools I use to create a vibrant classroom environment. My artistic background has allowed me to help students gain confidence and express themselves creatively, often blending English language learning with the arts for a fun and immersive experience.
In addition to classroom teaching, I’ve also ventured into content creation as a copywriter for a Netherlands-based e-commerce company, enhancing my communication skills and cultural adaptability. I’m deeply motivated to continuously grow both personally and professionally. I am always looking forward to opportunities here in Taiwan where I can contribute meaningfully to education, participate in community engagement, and immerse myself in the local culture.
I believe that teachers are lifelong learners and community builders. As such, my goal is to foster a safe, welcoming, and empowering learning space while continuously seeking professional development and contributing to the broader educational mission. I am committed to helping every learner become the best version of themselves—inside and outside the classroom.
This is the presentation I shared at the Changhua International Education and English Teaching Resource Center on October 23, 2024. It covers my life in Taiwan, professional background, and perspectives on mental health.
