I am Teacher Dessa Lou Macatangay, a foreign English teacher at Changhua County, Chengkung High School. I took my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, Major in Biology, at Mindanao State University, General Santos City, Philippines. I had been teaching in my country for 11 years before I got the opportunity to teach here in Taiwan. I am always grateful for this wonderful journey I am on. I find it easy to navigate and live my life in Taiwan, especially at Chengkung High School, because of this amazing community.

My Teaching Philosophy

As an English teacher, I believe that learning is most effective when it is student-centered, fun, and engaging. I aim to create a classroom environment where students feel motivated, confident, and actively involved in their own learning journey.

My lessons are designed to develop the four essential English language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Through a variety of interactive activities, real-world tasks, and creative projects, I encourage students to express themselves, think critically, and communicate effectively in English.

I believe that when students enjoy the learning process, they not only improve their language skills but also build a lifelong love for learning. My goal is to inspire students to become independent, enthusiastic learners who are ready to use English confidently in the global community.

My Collaborative Courses

My courses focused mainly on enhancing the learner’s English performance in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Courses were designed and delivered meticulously together with my collaborating local teachers. Integrating SDGs into my lessons fostered cross-cultural understanding, promoted critical thinking, and encouraged active citizenship among her students.

This course not only improves their English skills but also enhances their understanding and appreciation of other cultures. Courses were designed to provide students with a well-rounded English language education. Whether they are looking to improve their listening, speaking, reading, or writing skills, our courses offer the opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive and engaging environment.
