A Joyful Cultural and Recreational Day at Dongshi Forest Garden
On March 29, the Parent Association of Chengkung High School organized a delightful cultural and recreational trip to the beautiful Dongshi Forest Garden in Changhua County. The event was warmly led by Principal Lin Kexiu, Parent Association President Wu Chengyi, Secretary-General Wu Peicong, and accompanied by Honorary President Hong Qunwei.
Participants enjoyed a relaxing day surrounded by nature, filled with laughter, connection, and shared memories. The atmosphere was lively and heartwarming, offering a wonderful break from the usual routine.
The Changhua TFETP (Taiwan Foreign English Teacher Program) Professional Development Program for the 113th Academic Year was successfully held on November 20th at the Tainan Municipal Simen Experimental Elementary School. This event brought together all Foreign English Teachers in Changhua, alongside the Changhua International Education and Resource Center (IETRC) Director and staff, for a day dedicated to professional growth, collaboration, and innovative teaching practices.
Every first Wednesday of the month, the Changhua County Foreign English Teachers' Monthly Meeting initiated Changhua International Education and English Teaching Resource Center. This meeting takes place at Minsheng Elementary School. Teachers gather to share their teaching experiences and strategies. The event often features resource speakers who provide valuable insights and tips for effective teaching.
Collaborative teaching with another foreign English teacher can be a wonderful experience for both students and teachers. Last semester, I had the pleasure of working with Francisco Bryant Ortiz, a foreign English teacher from the USA.
We decided to try collaborative teaching in our conversational class to make lessons more interactive. We taught a class together in the digital classroom. One of our favorite activities was making word clouds. Students enjoyed seeing their words turn into artistic shapes. Additionally, we were integrating ICT into the lesson to better connect with students.
One day, we decided to use chanting to make grammar rules easy to remember. It was fun and effective, helping students engage more in conversations. Working with Francisco made me realize how beneficial collaborative teaching can be.
The school held an orientation on developing a bilingual school website, attended by the principal and two foreign English teachers. Website expert and My Culture Connect founder Luke was invited to assist in the project. The website will include key school information and staff details, aiming to improve communication and engagement. Luke also suggested adding fun, interactive features to enhance learning. This initiative will help connect cultures and support both teachers and students.
