Welcome to art class! I am Ms. Szymkiewicz, and I am so excited to be joining the CPMS team. I cannot wait to get to know all of the amazing young artists at our school! 

This year, every student will have art once a week. My goal is to introduce our classes to as many different types of art as possible, giving everyone a chance to find an area of art they connect with. Some of our units might include drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, sculpture, clay, fiber arts, and digital art. In addition, our students will be introduced to art history, art analysis, and how to positively and productively critique another's work. 

I will also be teaching a 6th grade Art Appreciation elective where we will dive deeper into art history and art theory.
