About Mrs. Hessamian

For parents:

My path into teaching has been shaped by a deep interest in language and the ways literature helps us understand the world and one another. I am especially drawn to helping students develop their voices as readers, writers, and critical thinkers.

Growing up in a diverse, mixed-race family exposed me early to a wide range of perspectives. Those experiences have given me a deep respect for dialogue and have shaped my commitment to creating inclusive learning environments where students feel safe being themselves and exploring complex ideas. Living abroad further expanded that worldview, immersing me in new languages and cultures and deepening my appreciation for the perspectives students bring into the classroom.

My own educational journey started with a love of storytelling. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Public Relations from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2015 and then spent a decade working in digital marketing and SEO strategy before pivoting to education in 2024. In May of 2026 I earned my Master's Degree in Education and my Single Subject Teaching Credential in English from Azusa Pacific University. As a lifelong writer, I am passionate about helping students discover how literature and language can deepen their understanding of themselves and the world around them.

I can't wait to get to know your students this year and advocate for them as learners and young adults on their educational journeys!
