Dear Bradbury families,
It has been another wonderful week at Bradbury, and it was such a pleasure to connect with so many of you during our recent Parent Coffee Mornings. We had a fantastic turnout across the year groups, and it was a joy seeing parents connecting with one another, sharing stories, and engaging in rich discussions about our school community.
During our sessions, Amanda Bremner, our PYPC, spoke about the vital role parents play in our upcoming IB evaluation process, and together we explored what our school priority of Belonging at Bradbury truly means. We reflected on the role of parents in contributing to this sense of community, belonging and pride. We considered who we are as Bradbury parents and what's important to us. We gathered invaluable parent perspectives on how we can continue building this sense of belonging across our whole community. This feedback will form the basis of our own 'What it means to be a Bradbury parent' which we will share soon.
We also had interesting conversations around intentional playground design and how play environments shape children's physical, social, and emotional development. Parents shared thoughtful ideas on what features they would love to see in our new playgrounds. We discussed how physical play like hanging, rolling, climbing, and jumping builds spatial awareness, balance, core strength, and muscle control. We also touched on how games with rules nurture self-regulation, turn-taking, and learning to win and lose gracefully, and how opportunities for challenge build resilience, confidence, and self-awareness.
If you were unable to join us but have thoughts or ideas you would like to share, please feel free to reach out via email or come speak with me at school. We would love to hear your voice!
Finally, a reminder regarding morning traffic and student safety around Stubbs Road and the bus pull-in zone. Morning drop-offs can become very busy and unsafe. Wan Chai District Councillor Mr Sun has kindly reached out to explore how we might work together to ease congestion. To keep our school zone safe and smooth, please ensure you do not wait in your car in the bus zone. We encourage a prompt "drop and go". Have students ready to hop out when safe while parents stay in the car, so traffic keeps moving safely for everyone.
Have a fun-filled weekend and we look forward to seeing all the happy faces of our students on Monday morning.
Warm wishes,
Skye Jeynes

This year the focus for the ESF Hub at Bradbury is to develop consistency in practice and to collate all our assessment data through the Toddle gradebook. Through a series of targeted staff CPD sessions and the use of the 'Change Champions' on staff we are hoping to clarify teacher practices and continue refining the platforms to fit our needs. Please find below a summary of current updates regarding the ESF Hub.
1.Portfolios:
The main purpose of an IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) portfolio is to make your child’s thinking, growth, and learning process visible.
A PYP portfolio acts as a living story of how your child learns. It helps them build student agency—giving them the confidence to choose their own work, talk about what went well, recognise where they made mistakes, and set goals for what to learn next.
Over the past 5 weeks, Teachers have been working hard to clarify processes on the ESF Hub and develop consistency based on a shared understanding and PYP expectations. Through rigorous CPD and constant questioning we feel we are ready to start sharing posts more regularly with our community.
What to Expect as a Parent
Continuous Updates: You will see smaller, regular posts throughout the year that show what your child is working on right now. This could be through narrated whole class photos, small group pictures, work samples etc
Student Voices: Expect to hear audio recordings, watch short videos, or read reflections written by your child explaining their work in their own words.
Focus on Process, Not Perfection: You will see drafts, sketches, and problem-solving steps alongside final products.
Tagging of Key Skills: Posts will show how learning connects to broader skills like critical thinking, communication, research, and the PYP Learner Profile attributes (such as being courageous or caring) or concepts such as Change, form etc
ARR Portfolios vs. Everyday Sharing
You will see two complementary types of posts in your child's digital feed:
Everyday Sharing of Learning: Quick, authentic glimpses into daily classroom life—a short video of a science experiment, a photo of a group maths activity, a class newsletter or a quick voice note.
ARR Digital Portfolios: Formal, curated entries collected at key points during the year that capture major milestones, deeper self-reflections, and progress against learning targets. This is curated from Year 1-6 and can be downloaded and kept when the child's leaves primary school.
How You Can Support at Home
Check the ESF Hub App: Log into the ESF Hub app, select your child's profile, and tap the Toddle Learning / Portfolio tab. Alternative, when you receive a notification of a portfolio post, click on the link included.
Leave Positive Feedback: Like posts using the thumbs up emoji.
Ask Open Questions: Use the posts to start meaningful conversations at home. Ask: "What was challenging about this activity?" or "Can you explain what you were thinking here?" instead of just "How was school today?"
2. Year Group Parent Page:
Parents will shortly be shared into a landing page that contains relevant documents and links. This page will be shared with parents and act as a base to access key year group/class information like timetables. Teachers are currently crafting these pages.
We had a fantastic time celebrating Digital Citizenship Week! It looks like Pillo the Koala’s message truly resonated with our students, as we were treated to a wonderful selection of artwork highlighting what they learned about balancing technology use. We also hope you enjoyed the nightly family challenges. Thank you to all the families who used these activities to reflect on technology's role in your homes and practice being responsible digital citizens together!
Willow C. (5A) and Patrick C. (4P) wanted to share a few photos with the Bradbury community of the sweet foster kittens staying with them right now! They are currently helping Paws United foster three amazing little kittens—Amaya, Iris, and Rainy. They are incredibly beautiful, playful, gentle, and terribly sweet!
How You Can Help: If you or anyone in the Bradbury community (or beyond!) is considering adding a furry friend to your family, please help us spread the word! Let’s help Paws United find these sweet siblings their forever homes.

Join us in the Shed (Wednesday 30th September - 5pm) for the 1st of our Parent Workshops this year focusing on Digital Safety.
In today's connected world, children interact with digital platforms like Roblox, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Discord, and Messenger at increasingly younger ages. Join us for an essential parent information session focused on digital safety, online conduct, and technology-assisted relationships.
A major theme of the evening is shifting our parental approach so children feel safe opening up. We will discuss how our reactions as parents can bridge this gap, moving away from punitive responses so children feel empowered to talk with us about age-appropriate risks and come forward when things go wrong.
Finally, you will leave with practical skills and healthy digital habits to protect your family. We will cover concrete preventative measures, critical reactive steps, and how to build long-term healthy habits through weekly digital check-ins and creating a balanced family media plan.
Date: Wednesday, 30th September 2026

Key Flu Vaccine FAQs
1. When should I get vaccinated?
October–November is the best time to get vaccinated. Antibodies take about two weeks to develop, so aim for at least two weeks before the flu season starts.
2. How long does the protection of seasonal influenza vaccine last? Is it necessary to get vaccinated against seasonal influenza every year?
Seasonal influenza vaccination requires annual administration. Evidence on repeated influenza vaccination shows that vaccination in the current and prior season provides better protection than no vaccination or being vaccinated in the prior season only. Furthermore, the circulating seasonal influenza strains may change from time to time and the vaccine composition is updated every year in accordance with the circulating strains to enhance protection.
A huge congratulations to Year 4 student Jeremy P., who recently participated in his first-ever speed cube event! Competing alongside 180 other cubers—most of whom were adults and teenagers—Jeremy showed fantastic resilience. Despite some understandable nerves, he performed exceptionally well and came very close to beating his personal best time of just 28 seconds. Well done, Jeremy!
Did you hear? Year 6 students Jeremy, Alexis, and Owen are making their radio debut on Commercial Radio Hong Kong's youth program, Child Friendly (兒童適宜)! The trio visited the CR2 studios last Saturday to discuss their school life and hobbies with the DJs. They spoke beautifully and represented Bradbury with fantastic confidence. Be sure to tune in and support them this weekend!
Broadcast Details: Sunday, 20 September from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Commercial Radio 903 (FM 90.3).
A massive congratulations to Serene Lau from 2G, who recently took part in her very first ballet competition and brought home a spectacular silver medal! Serene showed incredible dedication by working hard to memorise every single step and thoughtfully taking her instructor's feedback to heart. We are so proud of her courage, commitment, and beautiful performance. It sounds like she is already looking forward to her next challenge. Well done, Serene!
At Bradbury, we celebrate students' achievements and interests beyond school. If your child has received an award or participated in a competition, please share the details and a photograph with us at bsnewsletter@mybradburyschool.com
