r/complicitmurder It’s easy to see this as a tech problem—something for developers and moderators to fix with bans and policies and artificial intelligence (Roberts, 2021). But doxxing has never been a tech problem. Cloudflare banning Kiwi Farms, 8chan, and The Daily Stormer wasn't enough to keep any of those platforms off the internet—to stop any of the harassment taking place on those sites (Prince, 2022). And, frankly, it was never going to be enough (Vu et al., 2023), because the platforms were never the issue—the users were (Hicks, 2021).
This is not a one-sided problem, perpetuated by far-right trolls and extremists looking to be complicit in, or even cause, the death of those they do not deem human.
People are people, and they are nothing if not resourceful.
Right-wingers aren’t the only ones willing to do anything to get what they want.
