Dear Weston art teachers,
We are currently planning our annual STEM night. This year's event will be a joint event with the Green team and will be called " The Green STEM Night". The topics vary from conserving energy, recycling and avoiding waste, and alternative energy sources, to natural resources and local support activities. The event is scheduled to happen at the country school on February 29th around 6 pm ( set up around 4 pm or possibly the day prior for posters/ artwork).
The activities will be spread out in the cafeteria and Gym and we were hoping to use the connecting hallways to exhibit related artwork and projects from all schools. The projects could be grouped by school or topic and we think it would be a nice opportunity to show off the great work that is done at different grade levels at the Weston schools.
We would need your help in identifying projects and artwork that would fit the concept or directing us to colleagues who could suggest any contributions. Any related subjects/ topics are welcome. We can help with the recruitment of volunteers to help set up and take down everything. Please reach out to us if you are interested or have any questions for us. Susan Erickson, who is our school liaison for this event, is also copied on this email in case it is easier for you to reach out to her.
all the best

THEATER TECH HELP FOR INTO THE WOODS
I'm one of the VPs of tech for WHS's theater company as well as the art director for Into The Woods! As tech for this show progresses, we have a lot of need for painting, and we would love some help from the art club and any students you think might be interested!
Tech crew meets on Mondays and Thursdays afterschool until 5:30 or 6, but students can come as they're able, and if they want to come on other days after school, someone will be available to instruct and help them as needed.
Our first official art/painting meeting will be on Monday of next week (10/23), so any interested and available students are encouraged to come down to the scene shop (across from the auditorium and next door to the black box) to get a more in-depth understanding of what is going to be needed for this show and to get started on painting! However, I will provide a brief overview of some of the projects we will be tackling here:
- Designing and painting three flats to portray three different houses
- Creating and painting a central pillar structure that can function as a tower, a tree, and a beanstalk
- Basic set painting for a woodsy/natural feel
- Possibly some animals and other miscellaneous props (ex: possibly designing/painting a golden harp)
-Blacking of platforms & parts of the stairs
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out me! Our other VPs of tech and our director are cc'd here, and you can also go to them with any questions!
Thank you,
Saavani Datta
Decorating pumpkins for COA
Hello everyone,
I have been emailing back and forth with the director of the COA and she has given us an opportunity to decorate (not carve) 18 small pumpkins that will be distributed by volunteers at the COA to their "Meals on Wheels" program. We would decorate them during activity block next week (10/26). Please fill out this google form to let me know if you are interested!

Good morning,
I'm looking to decorate for the seasons / holidays etc. If the kids ever have free time, I'm happy to display some of their work, weekly, monthly, etc. Instead of printing out black and white prints of pumpkins etc. as I don't have a color printer :)
Scholastic Art awards due December 8th. Please see me if interested in submitting work.
