The University of Westminster is home to some of the best studio facilities in the country. We have a large array of studio & rehearsal spaces, supported by an extremely diverse collection of vintage and modern equipment. Our flagship studio - D9 - boasts a powerful 48 channel SSL Duality and state of the art PMC monitoring. Our on site venue - Area 51 - delivers better live sound and lightning than most small venues across the country.
We pride ourselves on facilitating as many of your creative endeavours as possible. Our tech team have extremely diverse backgrounds and are able to support your projects, recommend equipment, and provide guidance on specialist topics. All of the equipment has been hand picked by our team, so expect a very eclectic choice of gear.
You can book a studio and equipment via SiSO, our online booking system. Just make sure you have completed your TC test(s) as shown below. Please find below requirements for bringing guests on site.
In order to use any of the studios at the University, you must first complete a TC Test (technical compliance). The TC test shows that you have the required fundamental understanding of how to safely use the studios and the associated equipment.
There are three levels of TC tests, and it is mandatory that everyone passes the TC1 test. TC2 & TC3 are required for use of other rooms containing large format analogue consoles. These aren't necessary, but very useful if you plan on doing large analogue multitrack sessions, using outboard, or surround sound work.

In order to complete a TC1 Test there are 4 steps you must complete.
1. Once you have signed into SISO, watch the all of the appropriate TC induction video.
2. SISO will require you complete the TC1 test and sign the studio rules agreement.
3. Complete both of these.
4. Pass with flying colours and get instant access to the TC1 benefits.
