Our students begin to consider career and life pathways early in their high school experience. Every course curriculum includes a component of career exploration within the discipline of study, allowing for rich experiential learning of a variety of career possibilities and exposing students to potential careers that they would like to pursue. In Grade 10, the compulsory half credit in Career Studies provides the opportunity to have pointed discussions with teachers about these possible careers, and do guided research into post-secondary education.
In the Halton Catholic District School Board, we use MyBlueprint as our primary pathway planning tool. MyBlueprint has a multitude of research tools and planners to effectively set career goals and devise a strategy to achieve them. Career Studies courses use MyBlueprint to assist students in making informed decisions about course selections for their senior high school years, as well as post-secondary requirements for programs of interest.
