A CNN writer Brian Stelter who was fired Friday after evidence of plagiarism was discovered. 

"19-year-old law student Kaavya Viswanathan had a high profile book deal and good grades at Harvard. But by the end of the year, her name was dragged through the mud as a plagiarist and a cautionary tale in the publishing world."

James Frey was found guilty and charged because of his false statements in a memoir titled "A Million Little Pieces," which recounts a time in his life spent in addiction and recovery, including his criminal history associated with it. However, it was discovered many of those experiences were exaggerated when an investigation discovered that he lied. Oprah Winfrey's bought his story and promoted it at first. Later on in 2012, Winfrey apologized for promoting false claims of Frey.
