Faculty Learning Program
What are Honors Pods?
Honors Pods are a specialized Faculty Pod in the Faculty Learning Program. Faculty pods are groups of faculty and educators who form communities of practice to discuss teaching practices. In the Honors Pod meetings, we exchange ideas for effectively supporting students in completing quality Honors Contract Projects.
Honors Contracts allow students to earn Honors credit while enrolled in a non-honors transferable course. Essentially they turn a non-Honors course into an Honors course. The benefits of Honors contracts for students include:
Personal satisfaction of high caliber work
Working closely professor
Honors notation on transcript
Opportunity to discuss research on transfer application
Opportunities to present and/or publish work
Helps Honors Transfer Students complete HTP and gain priority transfer and scholarship opportunities
The main goals of the Honors Pods are:
Extend faculty knowledge of honor contract mentorship strategies
Increase the number of faculty offering honors contracts
Improve equitable practices for underrepresented Honors students
Increase the number of students successfully completing Honors contracts and The Honors Transfer Program.
