Each assessment will be evaluated based on the provided rubric and awarded a grade. Many times it will be complete/incomplete, 0 or 100.
Please understand that my priority is that you do the work, not that you turn in the work on time. You will always be able to submit late work. That said, it could have a late penalty. Additionally, if you turn in work at your leisure, I will grade at my leisure. Only exception to this is if you spoke with me before the due date of the assignment.
With each of the activities and assessments, I have provided a rubric to help clearly explain and detail our expectations for a completed submission. More importantly, these rubrics help to keep us honest and transparent. It is one step to achieving greater equity in our teaching. Following our rubrics as I assess your submissions, I aim to reduce my bias and remove any hidden assumptions about academic cultures, such as punctuation, spelling, paragraph structures, etc.
You'll also find learning outcomes in each of the chapters in this course. These outline what you'll learn in each chapter, and you can think of these unit-level learning outcomes as baby steps toward our big-picture, course-level learning outcomes outlined above.
You can find these on the schedule to this syllabus or in the Modules within our Canvas
Please note that you will be required to take the Chapter Quiz before you can advance to the next module.
