Hi, I'm Bradley Roehrig and I am a newly qualified Physiotherapist. Previously studying at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) to complete my MSc in pre-registration physiotherapy, and prior to that I studied my BSc in Sports and Exercise Sciences at SHU. While studying my BSc I setup a coaching service offering online/in-person strength and conditioning support to individuals, teams and businesses to receive exercise, nutrition, lifestyle and recovery support; and I continue to act as Head Coach and Founder within the business 'FIT4.FUNCTION LTD'. Previously while a student I was also a bank member of the AWRC Research Team as a research assistant. Working on the "Shapemasters" project in assessing the reliability, validity and effect of assisted exercise machines for neurological patients. Now I am working as a Band 5 rotational physiotherapist for Sherwood Forest Trust. My first and current rotation being MSK outpatient physiotherapy at Ashfield Health and Wellbeing Centre - Nottingham County Trust. While on this rotation I have effectively worked to clear the Band 5 waiting list, took on a 50% or more band 6 caseload, lead in-service training on the importance of strength and conditioning in MSK physiotherapy and lead independently this ESCAPE Pain and Supervised Exercise Classes.
Having had a passion for serving others from a young age. Early on I pursued volunteer roles at youth camps, until later travelling to Africa where I would spend 6 months in 3 locations acting as a volunteer in different capacities detailed further within my CV.
Having certificates in pitch side emergency first aid, strength and conditioning, personal training, coaching/behaviour change and exercise referral. I am dedicated to providing comprehensive and evidence-driven support in all acts of service. While developing my professional competency and skills as a Physiotherapist, I am a determined to be thorough and dedicated individual with a wide range of experiences. When working with patients I am able to draw on this variety of experience to show deep awareness and empathy for their individual experiences and my learning on my A level philosophy and MSc learning of the biopsychosocial model allow for holistic, person-centred care to be of pivotal importance to me and my practice in all fields of discipline. While working in a team, I build up few leadership qualities such as inspiration, motivation, confident, and a well presentable personality.
I always take time to listen to an individuals experiences and feelings. As a result I have further developed my communication skills whilst working within multidisciplinary teams in order to learn from other health care practitioners (HCP). I love learning new ways in which to better understand an individuals' lived experiences and their impact upon care. This has led me to be deeply interested in the impact of pre- and post- operative care and adherence during the short time on my MSc Physiotherapy degree so far.
In seeking to align my practice closely with 'NHS Values' I aspire to provide the highest standard of excellence and professionalism through my actions each day. Ensuring I am punctual, polite and dedicated in all areas of professionalism from uniform to clinical assessments and interventions in a ward setting.
As a rotational band 5 physiotherapist my main purpose is to develop the necessary skills and expertise in the assessment and treatment of patients to ensure the provision of high-quality, effective physiotherapy intervention during each 4 monthly rotational placement. This being my first I have an overriding purpose to support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.
My responsibilities are to; 1) assess, develop, implement, and reassess treatment for my own caseload; 2) provide advice concerning care needs of patients with a range of conditions; 3) follow and respect the departmental and trusts' policies while proposing changes in the working practice; 4) contribute to discussions on service/policy development and provide comments on proposals. I also have a 5) duty of care and responisbility for equipment/materials used by my self and patients; 6) records and collates own activity statistics, submitted monthly, alongside logging supervision, mandatory training and regular participation in in-service training (IST).
During this initial placement I will frequently reflect and implement changes to my widening and broad physical/mental skills of; 1) interpersonal skills, 2) communication, 3) Supervisory skills and educational support, 4) time-management, 5) experience, and 6) physical skills i.e manual maneavres and mobilisations.
While undertaking my MSc Physiotherapy, I am fortunate enough to be granted placement experience. My first of which is in the Cardio-thoracic Surgery Unit of the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
Falling under the category of 'Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy' I am delighted to receive such a broadly engaging and clinical placement opportunity in order to widen my perspective experience, alongside being able to practice skills and techniques required within the clinical environment.
Through my placement I will seek to continue my professional development in a proactive and effective manner in order to become a well-rounded practitioner throughout my learning and beginnings to practice within Physiotherapy.

I am seeking a role within the NHS while studying in order to broaden my experience and allow for practical application of learning across a wide range of disciplines.
Following completion of my MSc I have a desire to work within the clinical healthcare setting of the NHS in order to further my experience through a 'rotation' based contract.
