In order to receive the Field Leadership certificate, you must provide proof of completion (certificates or unofficial transcripts) for the following online courses:

An examination of leadership in the context of the front-line leader. Emphasis on the role of every officer as a leader with discussions on the traits, virtues, and principles of leadership. A brief discussion on Servant Leadership follows with a closing discussion on the opportunities and obstacles to leadership development in agencies.

Introduces the theory of Servant Leadership and discusses the principles associated with servant leadership as well as various characteristics that a servant leader demonstrates. Reviews leadership traits of several well-known servant leaders and discusses the benefits and pitfalls of servant leadership, assessing one's own inclinations toward servant leadership, and discusses the implications of servant leadership in a law enforcement organization. Addresses the issue of creating a legacy of servant leadership for future leaders to emulate.

Introduces the theory of Ethical Leadership and discusses the principles associated with ethical leadership as well as various characteristics that an ethical leader demonstrates. Explains the steps involved in developing ethical leaders and why an ethical, character-driven approach to leadership is needed in law enforcement organizations. Reviews the impact of vision, mission, and guiding principles on an agency's ability to create lasting relationships with the community it serves. Addresses the issue of organizational culture and its influence on the development of leaders. Enumerates the benefits of ethical leadership on the individual, the agency, and the community.

Introduces the concepts oc Coaching, Mentoring, and Team Building and discusses the ideas associated with the development of team members and why this is important in law enforcement organizations. Explains the steps involved in developing team cohesiveness and team effectiveness. Identifies the ten (10) ways to strengthen team relationships. Describes the ten (10) tips for fostering team success. Explains barriers to effective team functioning.
