Your goal should be written in one to three sentences, containing all SMART components.
SMART is an acronym for specific, measurable, action-oriented, realistic, and time-oriented.
Specific - state exactly do you want to accomplish.
Measurable - state how will you track your progress and know when the goal is accomplished.
Action-oriented - state what action(s) will get you to your final goal.
Realistic - review your goal and make sure it is possible.
Time-oriented: state when you want to achieve this goal by.
Example goals:
I will complete the recommended 150 minutes of physical activity each week by engaging in 90 minutes of cardiorespiratory fitness and 60 minutes of weight resistance training.
I will quit vaping in two weeks by substituting Nicorette gum for one extra vape session each day.
Tip: think of a measurable end goal that you would like, add in the action you could start that will get you there, and then think of when you will do this or have it completed by.
