Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to do this?

Digital badges for faculty development are not required, but rather a way to showcase faculty learning/development.

What are digital badges?

A digital badge is an indicator of accomplishment or skill that can be displayed, accessed, and verified online. These badges are able to be displayed on your e-portfolio and personal webpages, in addition to sites like LinkedIn. Think Scouts, but….high tech :)

How do I do this?

We are using Badgr to issue the badges. https://support.badgr.com/portal/kb/articles/using-the-badgr-backpack

Basically as you earn them, they go into your “backpack” and then you can share them.

See file below for details on how to do this.

Can I create a badge from my division/office/program?

Of course! Just talk to Johnna Touma, Yasmine Kalkstein, or Chuck Lynch.

How do I get them?

Digital Learning & Instructional Design or VPAA Office will award them upon completion of criteria. If you didn’t get something you should have, just contact us!

What other digital badges might be interesting to me besides the ones created at the Mount?

The “Digital Promise” website is linked directly with Badgr. Other faculty learning available here: https://microcredentials.digitalpromise.org/explore
