History of Tennis
Tennis has roots back to the ancient Mediterranean, but it was truly popularized in the 11th and 12th centuries when monks and members of French court took a liking to the game. Modern tennis was invented when a game of outdoor lawn tennis was adapted from the medieval game in 1873. Wimbledon - or The Championships - is the world's oldest tennis tournament, having first been played in 1877, and is considered the most prestigious by many people.
