PART 2: The Legacy of the Mighty Mutts
They learn from the clippings that The Mighty Mutts were an undefeated kids’ team from the 1940s who mysteriously disappeared from the league after a big scandal—someone accused them of cheating. The team mascot? A giant English Mastiff named Hercules… aka The Beast. The papers hint that the dog didn’t attack anyone—it was the adults who turned against the kids after they beat the town favorite.
Benny gets obsessed. He decides they need to clear the Mutts’ name. Smalls suggests they recreate the team’s “final game” using the same lineup, gear, and even playstyle, to prove they were just talented—not cheaters. They all agree. But first, they need to earn the trust of the dog.
