Scarface is a 1983 English language drama directed by Brian De Palma starring Al Pacino. The plot follows a Cuban immigrant, Tony Montana, who commits a murder in prison in exchange for a green card. Following his entry into the United States the films plot follows his journey to success as he becomes a multi-millionaire and drug lord whilst simultaneously descending into insanity.

When Scarface released in 1983 it was met with mass reproach and hate initially. De Palma cluttered the film with copious amounts of violence and drug use. The films protagonist abused women and made obscene unpolished comments deemed not fit for the silver screen at the time. Despite the initial hate, it was not long until Scarface was deemed a masterpiece. The films greatness roots in its unpolish and unapologetic harsh truth.
