Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Robert Burns and I am currently (as of 8/15/2025) a senior at West Ranch High School. I was born in Texas and moved to a couple different places, like the UK and Australia before landing in California. I am a member of West Ranch's bands (jazz, marching, and concert) and play the trumpet in all three. We won Southern Californian championships in marching band my sophomore year and consistently score near the top in jazz competitions, so I also play a bit of trombone on the side, but I'm certainly better at trumpet. My trumpet was made in the 1960s, and my trombone in the 1990s, so I've got quite the historic collection. Speaking of history, I am also actually the Prime Minister of a micronation. The Second Roblandian Confederation celebrated its "independence" from the US on December 13th, 2021, and despite holding no land, we boast over 30 citizens, according to our last census. We have a flag, currency, and national anthem as well. It's a sort of "passion project," and isn't really supposed to be taken too seriously. Something I do take a bit seriously, however, is transit. As someone who wants to go into engineering as a future career, I am extremely interested in roads, freeways, metros, and railways. I can draw the London Underground map from memory, have memorized most (if not all) of the freeways in LA (numbers, names, and routes), and collect railway tickets from my travels here and abroad. I hope this website tells you a bit about me and my interests!
This picture was taken along State Route 57. This windmill, along with being an iconic landmark of the area, was also a place that my friend and I walked to during some spare time in a band competition (If you see this, hi Hannah). It was my idea to walk to a freeway, but it was an overall enjoyable experience.
This is a picture of the Roblandian flag. My grandma sewed me this flag and a smaller one in 2022, and I still have them in my room. The flag is a Red Ensign. The purple represents leadership and willingness to serve, and the white represents peace.
This is a picture of my trombone. It is silver and was made by Besson, a British company. My trumpet, which I do not have a picture of, was made in 1969 and is a Selmer Paris. Selmer only makes woodwinds now, so I am one of a lucky few who own a historic and professional-grade trumpet.
